Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hemp?

The Hemp plant is one of the oldest domesticated crops known to man. Its fibers and stalks are used in textiles to biofuel. Its seeds and flowers are commonly used in health foods and body care products. It is from Hemp that CBD is derived.

What is CBD?

CBD is an abbreviation of the word Cannabidiol.

What is Cannabidiol?

Cannabidiol is one of many naturally occurring compounds found in the Hemp plant. At least 113 of these compounds have been identified, they are collectively known as Cannabinoids.

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds produced in both plants (phyto-cannabinoids) and in the human body (endo-cannabinoids).

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a thick and sticky liquid extracted from the Hemp plant which is then diluted with a carrier/base oil such as Hemp or coconut oil.

How is our CBD oil produced?

Future Bright CBD is extracted from harvested Hemp using an organic ethanol wash. Ethanol extractions have evolved into one of the safest and most efficient methods for extracting CBD from Hemp. Ethanol extraction is also ideal for creating a broad-spectrum extract as it facilitates the extraction of almost all the plant’s therapeutic compounds. Other plant components, such as waxes, triglycerides and chlorophyll, that are co-extracted are removed by a process known as winterization. This treatment significantly improves the taste and colour of the final product.

The refined extract is then diluted with a carrier/base oil such as Hemp or MCT (coconut) oil – this is the end product we sell.

What is the difference between Hemp and Marijuana?

There is a common misconception that Hemp is Marijuana – it is not. Marijuana was a term invented in the 1930s to describe a plant that when consumed (normally smoked) produced a psycho-active effect – a high. This misconception led to the demonisation of the Hemp plant.

In short, Hemp and Marijuana are part of the same family, Cannabis. But the Hemp from which our CBD oil is produced contains no THC – the psycho-active compound found in Marijuana.

Marijuana is widely known for its medical and recreational purposes. Hemp is used in a variety of other applications including dietary supplements, skin products, building materials, and textiles.

What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the naturally occurring compound in Cannabis that produces psycho-active effects. It is illegal to possess and consume in the UK.

A statement from the Home Office in 2018 stated that CBD is not an illegal drug but CBD products with traces of THC are.

What is the difference between Hemp seed oil and Hemp extract?

Hemp seed oil is a highly nutritious food product that is derived from cold pressed Hemp seed. Hemp seed oil contains no traces of CBD or THC.

Hemp extract is a liquid extracted from the Hemp plant itself, not the seeds, from where our CBD oil is derived.

How do Future Bright CBD products differ from other CBD products?

Our products are organic and THC free. The CBD industry is largely unregulated and full of poorly produced products. Compared to many manufactures our oil is produced to retain the highest amount of naturally occurring compounds.

Methods claimed by some manufacturers about how their CBD is extracted and manufactured can be dishonest and potentially harmful for human consumption.

It is our mission to create safe and pure CBD products, whose qualities have been certified by recognised laboratories.

Where is Future Bright Hemp grown?

Our Hemp is grown in Bulgaria.

What is in Future Bright CBD oil?

Our oil is composed of CBD rich broad-spectrum Hemp extract and organic MCT (Coconut) Oil.

The Hemp extract is derived from an EU approved Hemp strain called Futura 75.

What is MCT oil?

MCT stands for Medium-Chain Triglyceride. It is a fatty acid found in coconut oil, colourless, odourless, and stays liquid at room temperature.

MCT oil is one of the best carrier/base oils to dilute CBD, as it facilitates efficient absorption by the body, improving bioavailability. Click the link below to find out more about the benefits of MCT oil.

Bioavailability is the measure of the amount of the administered dose, CBD in our case, that actually reaches the bloodstream.

What does broad-spectrum mean?

CBD is one of many naturally occurring chemical compounds that can be extracted from the Hemp plant. The others being cannabinoids, terpenes, amino acids, minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium, fatty acids – omega 3, 6, 9, carbohydrates, flavonoids, beta-carotene, chlorophyll, glycosides, nitrogenous compounds, alkanes, and vitamins including B1, B2, B6.

Board-spectrum is a term used to describe CBD oil that contains all of the above except for THC. It is interesting to note that cannabinoids and terpenes are the most important of them all. When all the above is consumed at once the results are most effective. This phenomenon is known as ‘the entourage effect’.

What is the entourage effect?

The entourage effect, discovered by Dr. Rapheal Mechoulam in 1998, relates to the disproportionately positive effect on the human body of ingesting ALL of the naturally occurring Cannabis compounds in rather than a single one on its own.

This synergistic effect suggests ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes give all spices, fruits and vegetables their individual aromatic scent. Terpenes are lipophilic (fat-loving) and hydrophobic (water-hating), and like cannabinoids they are very influential in the functioning of the entourage effect

How does CBD work?

The human body naturally produces two key neurotransmitters called Anandamide (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) that facilitate homeostasis in our bodies. Homeostasis refers to the equilibrium between our biochemical and physiological pathways. These neurotransmitters are referred to as Endocannabinoids and are an integral part of our Endocannabinoid system (ECS).

A regular intake of CBD supplements can support our endocannabinoid system to function optimally.

What is the endocannabinoid (ECS) system?

The discovery of the ECS has been one of the most important breakthroughs in modern medical science.

The ECS is a network of receptors found throughout our body and it’s functioning is vital to our well-being. The best way to describe it is as a balancing system, it maintains and restores balance within our bodies.

When the ECS is in balance, we are functioning at our optimum, we are happy and we feel good.

Will CBD benefit me if I am healthy?

Yes, you will benefit from taking a small dose twice a day even if you are healthy and feel great.

Subconsciously our bodies are constantly working to maintain balance, known as homeostasis. The addition of CBD to your diet will support your body’s ability to restore homeostasis.

Overall, the benefit of using CBD oil on a daily basis can be summarized in two words: support and maintenance.

What is CBD used for?

CBD is used to support the body’s natural tendency to maintain homeostasis. In accordance with regulations, we cannot make specific health claims regarding our CBD products. We can only market our products as food supplements for general wellness. We therefore strongly encourage people to do their own research.

Is CBD safe?

The World Health Organisation has stated that there are no known health risks associated with CBD.

CBD is non-toxic and non-addictive, there has never been a single recorded fatality from the consumption of CBD, it is totally safe and virtually free of side effects. In fact, you could drink half a pint of CBD oil to no negative effect other than the chance of diarrhea.

CBD can be used while driving, working, parenting or undertaking exercise and sports.

How do I know that Future Bright products are safe to consume?

Our third-party testing procedures are in place to ensure our CBD oil is fit for human consumption.

Testing is done in two stages, firstly at point of extraction and secondly by third party laboratories who analyse for cannabinoid content, heavy metals, bacterial/microbial life, mycotoxins (fungus), and pesticides.

Our third-party laboratory tests, organic certificates and certificates of analysis are available here.

Is CBD addictive?

All the scientific research available suggests that CBD is not addictive and does not pose any risks for abuse. Addictive substances trigger a release of dopamine in the brain. CBD does not produce a release of dopamine and it cannot get you high.

Can I develop a tolerance to the positive effect of CBD?

Over time it is possible that you may need to marginally increase your dose to maintain the same level of effect. There are methods to restore earlier sensitivity to CBD such as changing dosage schedules, or taking short breaks. Lowering your dosage level considerably and slowly building it back up is a good way to restore CBD sensitivity.

What happens when I stop taking CBD?

Research has shown that there will be no symptoms of withdrawal. However, what might happen when you stop taking CBD is that the feelings you were experiencing before you started taking it may resurface.

Can I overdose on CBD?

There is no risk of overdosing from CBD.

CBD do not affect regions of the brain that control heart and lung function – it is impossible to overdose.

Can you take CBD while on antibiotics?

If you are taking any medication and want to add CBD to your daily routine it is always wise to consult your GP.

Will I get high?

No. CBD is non-psychoactive. It causes no impairment or intoxication; meaning it does not negatively impact your mind or mental state.

Will I fail a drugs test if I use CBD?

No, the consumption of CBD will not result in a failed drug test. When trying to determine whether someone has been using Marijuana, a drug test is searching for one specific chemical namely THC.

Our products contain no THC.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

Yes, CBD oil is legal to buy and consume in the UK provided it has been derived from an EU approved Hemp strain and contains no THC. All Future Bright products comply with EU and UK legislation and are totally legal to purchase and consume.

How do I take CBD oil?

Future Bright CBD can be consumed orally or applied topically (direct to skin).

The most efficient way for the body to absorb CBD oil is to take it under the tongue.

To administer the oil, gently squeeze and release the bulb to fill the dropper and place drops under your tongue. For maximum absorption hold the oil there for around one minute before swallowing. Closing your lips and applying a little suction can increase the absorption rate through the mucus membrane below the tongue.

Each bottle is equipped with a measured dropper for precise dosing. To preserve its purity, try not to touch the dropper on your tongue before returning it to the bottle.

How much CBD should I take?

The right amount of CBD for you depends on a number of factors including age, weight, lifestyle, and metabolism.

Always start with a low dose to test sensitivity and go up as needed.

Refer to our dosage guide to work out your starting dose.

Can I use CBD for my pet?

As per the Veterinary Medicines Guidelines (VMD), it is not permitted to sell, market or suggest CBD products for pets. It is now classed as a medicine and as such requires a license.

How should I store my CBD oil?

Upright, in a fridge or in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight.

Are your products organic and vegan friendly?

Yes. We are proud to be part of the ever growing organic and vegan community.

We care deeply about sustaining our planet and its inhabitants.
